Coach Jeff Askew
Coach Jeff Askew is a graduate from N.D.S.U. At N.D.S.U. he was a basketball All-Star. He set many records as a guard. When he graduated he was ranked third in total points at N.D.S.U. Most people would say that Jeff is the best player that N.D.S.U. has ever had.
Jeff's success didn't come to him overnight. He tells stories of playing basketball on the outdoor court behind his house. He remembers playing with big high school kids as a sixth grader. He also remembers going out with a shovel in the winter and shoveling the court off so he could play. But he says the worst part, and the part that made him good, was the intense heat. He says,"the heat conditioned me."
Jeff's concentration is on defense. Which means extra work for the team. If there was nothing else we could do right, Jeff would make sure we know how to play defense. We don't beat people by scoring points. We beat people by shutting them down.
The Fargo Thunder are very fortunate to have Jeff as our coach. You don't find many coaches like Jeff. But, if you do find a coach like Jeff you should work your tail-off to be the best you can be.
